Best Green Smoothie by Kimberly Snyder
Our last publication was primarily dedicated to the benefits of green cocktails, so now when you have a brand-new blender ready to assist you with health regeneration let’s have a look behind the scenes of… celebrity healthy lifestyle. Why not borrow a couple of approaches from Fergie or Drew Barrymore approved by a top star diet specialist?
Kimberly Snyder is a popular Hollywood nutritionist, author of the detoxification system and book The Beauty Detox Solution, party girl, frequent women talk shows guest and healthy lifestyles magazine interviewee. A savvy program developed by Miss Snyder was taken advantage of by Owen Wilson, Olivia Wilde, Hilary Duff and many Hollywood stars.
Kimberly is an icon of her method: a beauty with snow-white smile and radiant skin. Natural beauty, a synonym for health according to a rank and fashion nutritionist, implies having the right attitude to food. Of course, the complex program is comprised of a good number of essential aspects; however, as numerously stated by the author, the basis of the entire system is green, leafy vegetables and fruits.
A super green smoothie effect and… gorillas?
Kimberly Snyder argues that not many products can compete with the usual greens in nutritional value. Thus, greens contain all the necessary vitamins and minerals, as well as high-quality, easily digestible proteins. In the end, one of the most powerful animals, mountain gorilla, feeds exclusively on herbs and nuts.
However, the main problem of greens in human diet is the density of cell membranes that simply cannot be opened because of poor chewing efficiency. Consuming the greens unchewed is why in many cases the green passes through the gut in virtually unchanged form, giving away a tiny part of the nutrients. The conclusion is simple enough: greens should be ground thoroughly… and this is where a powerful blender comes to the rescue.
Best green smoothie recipe by Kimberly Schneider
You can combine virtually all the types of fruits (melon is, perhaps, the only poor blend) and greens in various proportions. Give arugula, chard or cabbage a try – make use of any available leafy vegetables. Feel free to experiment with flavors, but pay close attention to the basic requirements for the products:
- it is desirable to use organic foods grown with no use of chemicals (fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides or insecticides)
- exclude genetically modified ingredients
- make your choice in favour of fresh (non-frozen, or any processed) products.
To prepare 2-4 servings you will need the following ingredients:
- 1 ½ – 2 cups of cold filtered water
- 6 handfuls of chopped spinach
- 5 handfuls of some lettuce
- 2 stalks celery
- 1 peeled and sliced apple
- 1 peeled and sliced pear
- 1 banana
- 1-2 tablespoons of fresh lemon juice
Additionally, you can enrich your smoothie with a bunch of extras:
- 2-3 ice cubes (highly recommended for beginners)
- Half a handful of cilantro
- 1/2 handful of parsley
Whisk the water, spinach and lettuce in the blender thoroughly at a low speed. Gradually increase speed and add the remaining greens, celery, pear and apple. Banana and lemon juice should be added the least. No salt, sugar or spices is allowed. If you prepare a single portion, remove celery and one of the fruits from the list. Importantly, green smoothies can be stored in the fridge within no more than two days in a tightly closed container. Ideally, green cocktails should be consumed right after the preparation.
One of the best green smoothie recipes for weight loss implies taking at least one portion on a daily basis. You should begin with 450 ml, gradually increasing the volume and bring it up to 700 ml and more, replacing meals (breakfast and dinner).
At first the taste and smell of the drink may seem too unusual (and after smoked ham, chips and pizza-rich diet, it almost inevitably will), drink it cold. With time (typically, from a couple of days to 1 month) taste buds will be recovered, and green smoothies will take their rightful place in your life.
